Four years after their uncom­pro­mi­sing debut Ath­le­tic Sta­tics (Fidel Bastro, 2020), Ger­man noi­se rock force TRAINER are set to unleash their second full-length, Oh, Man­dy!, in mid-2025. Oh, Man­dy! is more than a fol­low-up – it’s a decla­ra­ti­on of intent. Expect con­trol­led demo­li­ti­on in sound form.

TRAINER bring back their signa­tu­re sound: pum­mel­ing, intri­ca­te drums, stoic machi­ne-like beats, how­ling gui­tars, filt­hy, frac­tu­red riffs, and vocals that swing from laid-back cool to ecsta­tic screams — all ser­ved wit­hout a bass gui­tar in sight. The result? A jag­ged mix of garage’n’roll, expe­ri­men­tal noi­se rock, and angu­lar No Wave chaos.

While working on the songs for this album, we had to deal
with pain­ful per­so­nal los­ses. In addi­ti­on, the crea­ti­on of the
album took place at a time of unpre­ce­den­ted political
chan­ges world­wi­de, which are very dif­fi­cult to bear. The­re is
some­thing exis­ten­ti­al about the songs, but they also
chan­nel a lot of anger. You might hear – or even experience
phy­si­cal­ly – both when lis­tening to the album. Howe­ver, we
hope that you also might dis­co­ver the ease and love these
songs con­tain and that they will inspi­re you to dance.
Mam­mo­th is based on a pic­tu­re of Gun­ter Sachs on his
motor­bike. Varia­ti­ons on a The­me by Har­ry Pus­sy is based
on the song Sick Again by Har­ry Pus­sy. Man­dy is inspi­red by
the work of Han­ne Dar­bo­ven. The Chi­ne­se Fian­cée is
inspi­red by and dedi­ca­ted to Rebec­ca Horn.
I Would Have Said “Fuck You!” is dedi­ca­ted to the unique
geni­us Peter Brötzmann.
